It&#8217;s a southern tradition that is outstanding. It is one of those dishes that improves when made ahead and reheated.<\/p>\n<p>Old-time recipes call for adding game such as rabbit and squirrel, but I use a combination of beef, chicken, and ham with excellent results. The ingredient list may be long, but it&#8217;s worth the effort.
